Help and advice with your web site and getting it indexed on a search engine

Many of you have set up websites in recent years. You have, either as an individual, or a small business, tried to ferret out the best website you could achieve.

You may have spent months of your own hard effort, rewardingly building a website that reflects yourself, and are rightly proud of an achievement you may have originally deemed beyond your capacity or resources.

Alternatively you may have spent a lot of hard earned cash achieving the same object, by getting professionals to do a web site for you to your own specifications.

Either way, it was a whole lot of work, and a whole lot of time, money, blood sweat and tears.

You then realise, just as I did, just as my partner in crime did, that not a soul in the world could see your crowning glory if it was not listed on one of the major search engines.

It is one thing to write a website, however small or however complex. It is quite another to contemplate messing about trying to get the major search engines to take a shine to you.

I am lucky, I was a systems programmer and dealt in putting in and creating new massive indexes for major university and public libraries for Geac Computers, as one of my many sins. To me, it became a challenge to get my website listed at least on one of the major men. I am on first page most of them now.

Curiously an old school friend, recently Friends anonymoused again, had gone down the same programming route, and web site creation cum search engine fixing route, almost in parallel to me.

We are sorted out ourselves now, I run Stiffsteiffs website, and John runs Kids Exchange in Cheshire.

What appalls us is the way ordinary joe public, and indeed a lot of small businesses are being cynically taken to the cleaners by some search engine optimisation corporations, who actually deliver very little and charge a very lot.

I get asked every day almost if I can help out a friend, and by and large I have tried to do so within my website.

However, I am running out of space, time and power.

Sounds like a failed doctor who.

John and I have decided to set up a few web areas where any of you can be made visible to the world at large through search engines, and I will take on an advisory role, wheras John will be running this as a business in order to help you all realise your dreams of fifteen minutes of fame on the first page of a major search engine. Only ours will be for life not fifteen minutes.

We are not in it to make squillions of pounds, indeed I am free gratis as on the Stiffsteiffs site, I just ran out of web space there. We want in a quaint old way to have our profession seen as professional, honest, straight as a die, old time square.

There is far too much tendency these days to try to rip people off almost as if it is clever to do so. We do not operate like that. Never have, never will.

All you ever wanted was someone to take your creation and make it visible, viable and able to be easily seen, by friends, relatives or customers. We do this. We enjoy helping people out.

There is absolutely no need to tinker whatsoever with your website, or even visit your pc. We provide an index entry to point at your web pages and web site, using real, sensible words people would really type in to find you, via your type of website and theme of display. A bit like you having a phone and us supplying the world with a directory entry for your phone, independent of you.

You will not have to have people knowing your name, or having your business card at hand to look you up, in order to find you. They will search for a certain theme with sensible keywords, and total strangers will then effortlessly and seamlessly find you, and remember you.

I know only too well how vulnerable you feel, as despite having been an absolutely top systems programmer, I had never seen anything to do with website creation before my own in 2003, and had never even thought of search engines until I realised I had no traffic.
